Never done one of our challenges before? Here's exactly how it works.
When you register, we email you a list of 130 activities spread across 10 categories, everything from pampering and grooming to training and skills, bonding, creativity, treats and enrichment, care, and acts of service. Your goal is to complete any 25 of the 130 activities - whichever appeal to you, in whatever order you like, at your own pace.
Mix and match across categories to build a challenge that suits you and your horse. Activities can be done on horseback, while leading your horse, from the back of a carriage, or through groundwork and in-hand work. There is no wrong way to take part.
We run entirely on the honour system. Once you've completed an activity, simply tick it off your list. When you've completed 25, send us your list and we'll post your rosette. Many of our participants find they enjoy the challenge so much they happily complete far more than 25 - you are absolutely welcome to work through as many as you like!
Every single one of the 130 activities comes with thorough instructions to give you ideas and help guide you through, whether it's a familiar favourite or something brand new to try.
That's it. That's the whole challenge.
With this many activities to choose from, there really is something for everyone. Whatever your circumstances, your horse, or how you like to spend your time together, you'll happily find 25 activities that feel right for you.
- ✓ Take your horse for a swim or paddle if you have safe access to water
- ✓ Take your horse for a wander to explore somewhere new
- ✓ Simply sit with your horse and be present - no agenda, just quality time together
- ✓ Create your own obstacle course - ridden or in-hand, using whatever you have at the yard
- ✓ A hill work session - ridden or in-hand for gentle conditioning
- ✓ Trick training - teach a bow, a smile, a nod, or the Spanish walk
- ✓ Liberty work or free schooling - communicating through body language alone
- ✓ Desensitisation work - building trust and confidence with something new
- ✓ A summer-themed photo shoot with your horse
- ✓ Paint with your horse - don't worry, full instructions are included, and this one is a favourite! (It's completely mess-free, we promise!)
- ✓ Create a scrapbook or photo album - physical or digital, whichever suits you
- ✓ Create a vision board for your goals together
- ✓ Personalise your horse's numnah or saddle pad
- ✓ Bake homemade horse treats from scratch
- ✓ Set up a stable enrichment activity - a hanging cabbage, a treat ball, or something creative
- ✓ Create a frozen treat with chopped vegetables or herbs for a hot day
- ✓ A sensory walk over different surfaces - in-hand or under saddle
- ✓ Research new activities or exercises to try with your horse
- ✓ Study a new practical skill such as stable bandaging, clipping, or how to take your horse's heart rate
- ✓ Take an online course or watch a webinar about horses
- ✓ Take your horse's vital signs and record them as a baseline
- ✓ A full body health check and assessment
- ✓ Organise your feed area or supplement storage
- ✓ Check your fencing and the safety of their environment
- ✓ Organise your grooming kit with love and care
- ✓ Deep clean and condition your tack
- ✓ Decorate their stable or create a stable nameplate
- ✓ Donate old but usable equipment, rugs, or feed to a local rescue or equine charity
- ✓ Write a thank you note to your yard staff or yard manager
- ✓ Share your horse with a family member or friend - let them come groom and spend time together (no riding required!)
- ✓ Research a new training method or technique
- ✓ Look at a show or event calendar and pick something to aim for
- ✓ Create a simple annual budget for your horse
- ✓ A mane and tail spa treatment - deep condition and detangle
- ✓ Plaiting your horse's mane and/or tail
- ✓ A full body massage session

Register Online
Sign up in minutes. Your list of 130 activities is emailed to you instantly after payment.
Choose Your 25
Browse the list and pick the 25 activities that suit you and your horse best. Mix and match across categories as you like.
Submit Your Log
Once you've completed 25 activities, submit your checklist by 20 August at the latest or earlier. Simply let us know which 25 you completed - however works best for you (handwritten note, typed letter, our official checklist).
Earn Your Rosette
Your beautiful Summer 25 finisher rosette will be verified and posted within 5 working days. Display it with pride!
